There have been 14 WIGW workshops - the first in Iceland in1989 to the most recent in India 2020.

Typically a workshop starts with the WIGW exhibition installation followed by a public seminar or opening event, WIGW then travel together to view specific sites of interest in the host country. Inspired by these collective workshop experiences WIGW members create responsive works during and following the workshop to be shared and exhibited at the next one.

“To me the Workshops are about meeting together in a common spirit - a spirit of generosity, inquisitiveness, and equality. They are a time to see a new environment and discover a new place with a sense of purpose and wonder, a time to share experiences and re-evaluate ourselves and our work, and a time to discuss our loves and hatreds, all encouraged by our combined enthusiasms,” Catrin Jones (Wales-Tales Catalogue)
